The Day I Almost Took a Very Long Nap (And Why I Didn't)

The Day I Almost Took a Very Long Nap (And Why I Didn't)

Some days in this creative life feel like you're running on fumes, held together by sheer stubbornness and the kindness of people who believe in you harder than you believe in yourself. Today was one of those days.

It Was a Hard Day. I'm Just Going to Say That.

I won't dress it up or spin it into something inspirational before I've even had a chance to breathe.

It was hard. Behind the scenes, the kind of hard that doesn't make it onto social media or into a polished caption.

The kind of hard that makes a very long nap sound like the most reasonable plan anyone has ever had.

The Stories Are There — They're Just Not Out Yet

Here's the thing I keep holding onto: I have them. The stories. The behind-the-scenes moments, the messy middle chapters, the lessons learned the hard way.

They're saved. They're waiting. And one day, they will absolutely make it to paper.

I'm talking about things like how I nearly walked away from building my store entirely — and what made me push through. Or how I manage a creative brain that's juggling multiple book series while somehow also trying to maintain a website and an online presence. Or the workflow I've built that takes a raw, rambling voice note and turns it into a finished blog post in minutes.

These are real stories. And they deserve to be told properly, not rushed.

The Only Reason I'm Still Here Today

I'll be honest with you: if it weren't for the support I have—the people who show up, encourage me, and remind me that my ideas are worth something—I would have closed the laptop today and not looked back.

That's not dramatic. That's just true.

There's something quietly powerful about having people in your corner who can see the finish line even when you can't. Who hold your vision when your arms get too tired.

I'm grateful for every single one of them.

The Nap Can Wait

The stories aren't going anywhere. The ideas are safe. And tomorrow, or the day after, or whenever the tank refills — I'll be back at the keyboard, turning all of it into something worth reading.

For now, though? Today gets to just be a hard day.

And that's okay.

Have you ever had a day where you almost walked away from something you love? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
