At the end of Vegas Viking, Sophia walks off the planet. A meteor shower, a hand extended, and she goes. I knew when I wrote that epilogue that it was the beginning of something — the prophecy fulfilled, a new series starting. What I didn't know yet was where she was going.
Then came the 3D egg. And Dragon World clicked into place.
The man who extends his hand isn't just a good-looking alien who makes your heart pound — though he is that. He's Drake, Prince of Dragon World, and his world is in serious trouble. There hasn't been a red dragon born to the royal line in generations. No red dragon means no clear monarchy. No monarchy means civil war — and the factions already circling are not subtle about their intentions.
Drake's bonded dragon is Arthur. Sophia's is Beatrice. Yes, Arthur and Beatrice. It's an homage to the Golden Girls, and yes, that is completely canon.
Sophia arrives on Dragon World and is immediately not welcome — she's foreign, she's unexpected, and she comes attached to the only red dragon anyone's seen in a very long time. There's tension with other factions, strife between Drake and his father, political maneuvering on all sides. And through all of it, Sophia finds everything about Dragon World absolutely fascinating. She's not overwhelmed. She's interested. She takes it all in and holds it close.
Meanwhile, up in the sky, Beatrice and Arthur are doing what dragons apparently do — the siren call, circling, being magnificent.
And then there's actual war.
The moment Sophia leaves Earth, her father Vin and his brothers — gods of creation, all of them — start moving. They're coming after her. The Norns know this, and they are actively stalling, buying time, because Sophia needs to find her own feet before the cavalry arrives.
It's a lot. It's exactly as much as it sounds like. And it all started because someone put a 3D-printed egg on a kitchen table.
